New Delhi:
The God of cricket was on Thursday criticised for not paying even one visit to the upper house of the country.
According to reports, cricket legend and Rajya Sabha MP Sachin Tendulkar has not attended even a single session of Paliament this year.
Following which, several politicians questioned the point behind his nomination to the Upper House.
CPI leader, Atul Anjaan said, "Sachin has been accorded Bharat Ratna, but he keeps on appearing in TV commercials, however, is unable for the Upper House of Parliament. I think it is an insult to the nation. He should stop doing it."
Sports expert, Maninder Singh said, "Sachin should attend Parliament sessions and can contribute towards sports activities."
Notably, Tendulkar has only 3 per cent attendance last year, having attended Parliament only three times. He has not attended a single session of Rajya Sabha this year.
The same issue has been raised against film star Rekha who has also not attended a single session of Parliament his year.
Besides Sachin and Rekha there have been several other celebrities like Maqbool Mehmood Hussain, Javed Akhtar and Lata Mangeshkar who have been time and again criticised for their absence in Parliament sessions.
