US Presidential Elections 2020: United States Presidential elections are due in November this year with President Donald Trump seeking a second term in the White House after surviving opposition’s impeachment bid while the Democrats aim to ride on an anti-incumbency wave.

Iowa Caucus: Trump Trounces Republican Party Rivals, Buttigieg Ties With Sanders

Former mayor of South Bend, Pete Buttigieg nearly tied for the first place with leftist senator from Vermont Bernie Sanders, according to the Iowa Democratic Party’s (IDP) results. Earlier, Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign asked the Iowa Democratic Party for a partial recount of the Iowa caucuses.

President Trump got comfortable victory in the Iowa Republican caucus as he trounced his two lesser-known ruling Republican Party rivals. Trump won the Republican contest with 97 per cent of the vote and 8 per cent of precincts reporting, according to the Associated Press.

New Hampshire Primary: Vermont Senator Sanders Wins, Trump Continues His Dominance Among Republicans

Bernie Sanders and Buttigieg were separated by a razor-thin margin in the New Hampshire’s crucial Democratic primary on Tuesday.

Sanders, who is being considered Trump’s top rival for the presidential post and the flag-bearer for the party’s progressive wing, got 26 per cent of votes while Buttigieg narrowly trailed on 24.3 per cent and fellow Midwesterner Klobuchar on 19.9 per cent.

Trump continued his dominance in New Hampshire also as he easily won New Hampshire’s Republican primary against minimal opposition.

Upcoming Nevada Caucus

The White House hopefuls will head to Nevada as the next caucus will be held in the state on February 22. Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, former vice president Joe Biden, former South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar, Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren and former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg are expected to take part in the Nevada caucuses, reported USA today.

Former New York City mayor, Mike Bloomberg, who launched his presidential campaign in November, is likely to give a tough fight to his Democratic rivals.

Interestingly, he did not contest Iowa caucus and New Hampshire primary and is likely to give a tough fight to his Democratic rivals in Nevada Caucus. Bloomberg will appear in Wednesday’s debate in Las Vegas alongside the Democratic heavyweights.
